| EO Overview |
An Energy Optimization (EO) surcharge appears on the electric portion of your utility bill. This surcharge evolved from the State of Michigan mandating that all electric and gas utilities in our state institute energy savings programs. The revenues collected from the surcharge are what fund these programs. It is proposed that using less energy will save money for both utility customers and utilities themselves through not having to build new power plants to provide electricity. Less potential costs to the utility, less potential rate increases to customers.
We have specialized programs available for both our residential and Commerical/Industrial (C&I) customers. There is also a program specially geared for low income customers.
